In an effort to prevent crime through increased community awareness and communication, an email account has been created and a broadcast email distribution list is being compiled for residents along the Pleasant Road corridor to promptly share important information.  I guess the best way to describe this initiative would be to consider it as an informal, electronic, multi-neighborhood-watch program.
 
Here's how it works:
 
To inform or warn your neighbors about local incidents involving car break-ins, aggressive solicitors, vandalism, burglary attempts, suspicious vehicles, etc. -- please send an email to pleasant.road@yahoo.com with information such as date, time, location, vehicle description, license tag, suspect description (height, weight, clothing, etc.), summary of what took place, police response, etc. 
 
A "volunteer dispatcher" will check that email account each day and forward notifications to the broadcast email distribution list.  This strategy is successfully used in the business community and it could be very useful in preventing criminal activity in our neighborhoods.
 
If you wish to participate and receive notifications, please send a brief email to pleasant.road@yahoo.com and you'll be added to the broadcast email distribution list. 
 
Important Notes:  This initiative is not affiliated with the York County Sheriff's office or any of the homeowner's associations and it is NOT a substitute for calling 911.  Participation on the email distribution list is completely voluntary and it will not be used for commercial purposes, solicitations, advertisements, politics, joke forwarding, etc.  To minimize the potential for "spam", email notifications will be sent to this distribution list via "blind copy".
